My Dad Votes In A Battleground
Submitted by adriancarrasquillo on Tue, 11/04/2008 - 5:24pm.I just talked to my dad on the phone and asked him if he voted. He lives in Florida and voted early on Saturday. He waited in line for five hours but he said that it wasn't too bad. Everybody was in good spirits and spent the time conversing on line. Volunteers from the Obama campaign said that they couldn't come to the line but that people on line could come to them for granola bars and water. He said that on Sunday waits were up to eight hours but that today things seem to be going a little smoother.

"I'm a bloody foreigner and I can't even vote. I will say I have a preference and that there seems to be a bit of a tight lipped policy here. I said too many things and I got an email saying not to say too many things."
Raiford Guins, Associate Professor of Comparative Studies-English
Preliminary Exit Polling from Stony Brook
Submitted by adriancarrasquillo on Tue, 11/04/2008 - 4:55pm.100 Voters
86 for Obama
9 for McCain
5 refused to answer
-Of the nine voters who voted for McCain, five said that they didn't think he cares about the youth vote. I guess this is why McCain didn't consider Stony Brook a battleground county.

More Than Just Words
Submitted by adriancarrasquillo on Tue, 11/04/2008 - 2:43pm.The best part of this election day smorgasbord is the outrageous amount of new content available on the web. Some of it is extremely insightful, probing, rich content. Some is just fun to play with. The New York Times canvasses supporters of both candidates and prompts them to use a word to describe how they are feeling. The resulting word cloud is interesting if not terribly insightful.
Election Day...On November 5th?
Submitted by adriancarrasquillo on Tue, 11/04/2008 - 2:03pm.At George Mason University in Virginia, an enterprising enemy to democracy hacked into the university email system and sent out an email from the Provost alerting students that election day was now on November 5th. The real Provost sent out a followup email to clear up the confusion.
Not just what to look for, but when in fact, you may look for it.
