Submitted by adriancarrasquillo on Tue, 11/04/2008 - 6:24pm.Ok, calm down. Breathe. We have some exit poll information courtesy of The Huffington Post. They are mostly about issue preferences and what matters to voters. State voting figures have not been released yet.
VIRGINIA -- POLL CLOSE: 7:00 PM
-- 22% of the vote is African American and Obama is winning 91% of it
-- Among whites, one in five said race was a factor in their vote today and they backed McCain.
- -More blacks (4 in 10) said race was a factor and they voted overwhelmingly for Obama.
INDIANA -- POLL CLOSE: 7:00 PM
Grown Men Crying in Philadelphia

CNN Exit Poll

Sixty-two percent of respondents in a CNN exit poll said that the most important issue to them was the economy. The Iraq War was the most important for 10 percent of respondents, with terrorism and health care each garnering support from nine percent of voters polled as their number one issue.
Also from the CNN exit poll, 72 percent of first-time voters chose Obama

My Dad Votes In A Battleground
Submitted by adriancarrasquillo on Tue, 11/04/2008 - 5:24pm.I just talked to my dad on the phone and asked him if he voted. He lives in Florida and voted early on Saturday. He waited in line for five hours but he said that it wasn't too bad. Everybody was in good spirits and spent the time conversing on line. Volunteers from the Obama campaign said that they couldn't come to the line but that people on line could come to them for granola bars and water. He said that on Sunday waits were up to eight hours but that today things seem to be going a little smoother.
Nader Speaks!

The spoiler (for Democrats) in 2000 is running again this year. But this year Ralph Nader does not figure to garner enough support to influence the election either way.
But Nader did have some critical words about the U.S. election process today, detailed in this article by MSNBC.com’s Bob Sullivan.

5 refused to answer
-Of the nine voters who voted for McCain, five said that they didn't think he cares about the youth vote. I guess this is why McCain didn't consider Stony Brook a battleground county.

-Dawn Lopez, a poll worker who has been there since 5:30 am said that fifty kids showed up at 6 am and then it was pretty quiet until 11 am. Since then its been pretty full.
