Democrat Brian X. Foley has defeated Republican incumbent Caesar Trunzo for the state Senate seat of New York's third district, according to a CNN projection.
Trunzo has controlled his seat for the past 36 years. However, in a year in which Democrats are seeking to gain control of the Senate, his seat became a target. A September Siena Research Institute poll showed Trunzo with a 46-40 lead. But weeks later, Siena put out a poll showing a 56-34 advantage for Foley.
In district one, incumbent Republican Kenneth LaValle ran unopposed. In district two, CNN has projected incumbent Republican John Flanagan to retain his seat. Stony Brook is within the second district

Re: Foley Defeats Trunzo for State Senate
Our government is doing their best to solve the continuous high rate of oil price. Since transportation and manufacture of goods all hinge on the price of oil imports and exports, any change in the price of goods or oil create ripples. For instance, a recession causes the price of goods to drop, due to less demand. Thus, the revenues decrease for oil producing nations, especially OPEC, which leads to them raising prices to compensate. The rise in prices causes the price of goods to rise, and therefore people needing to borrow money, along with corporations and governments, to compensate for the rising costs of goods, services, and also oil.
