Gov. David Paterson will be on NBC tonight around 9 p.m. to chat with Brian Williams for what could be an interesting segment.

Paterson’s election night visit with Williams comes at an interesting time in New York’s political climate. For the first time in over 70 years, it is likely that the Democrats could control all three segments of state government. Paterson himself has been actively campaigning for Democratic candidates throughout the state.

The national election also has Paterson’s eye. Though an enthusiastic supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama, Paterson expressed a fear that a President Obama would neglect New York’s needs if elected in an article printed today.

Paterson worried that the reliability of New York as a “Blue State” would cause a President Obama to not concern himself with the problems of New York sufficiently. Paterson said the state needed federal-level help with its economic situation, and that the state’s political loyalty could hamper it in getting the help it needs.

Paterson said his concern was not unique to Obama, but rather a problem that had already occurred in the Clinton Administration.

Clinton “raised all this money in New York and then went down to Washington -- we didn't see any change in the reimbursement rate from Washington while he was president," Paterson said in the Associated Press article.
