CNN Exit Poll

Sixty-two percent of respondents in a CNN exit poll said that the most important issue to them was the economy. The Iraq War was the most important for 10 percent of respondents, with terrorism and health care each garnering support from nine percent of voters polled as their number one issue.
Also from the CNN exit poll, 72 percent of first-time voters chose Obama
Nader Speaks!

The spoiler (for Democrats) in 2000 is running again this year. But this year Ralph Nader does not figure to garner enough support to influence the election either way.

A Word of Caution

Do not trust exit polls. Even Rasmussen, a polling website, agrees. In the past two elections, exit polls have been dramatically wrong.
In 2004, the exit polls made it look like John Kerry would be the next president. Exit polls in 2000 led to the ill-fated prediction that Al Gore would win Georgia and Tennessee.
State Senate Power Could Change Hands

At stake today is not only the presidency of the United States, but also the future of New York. Democrats, hoping to ride a wave of Obama enthusiasm, are looking to take control off all three branches of New York government. Democrats have not controlled all three bases of power since 1935.

Well, sort of. In two small New Hampshire towns, the voting is complete. Dixville Notch and Hart’s Location each started their voting this morning, right after midnight.
